Kinstellar and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton co-host a successful dispute resolution seminar in Almaty

October 2016 - On 14 October, Kinstellar’s Almaty office co-hosted a seminar on dispute resolution with lawyers from the London office of international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. In attendance were more than 30 leading local bankers; representatives of several major Kazakh state-owned companies including Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and Baiterek National Management Holding; heads of legal departments of local energy companies; and in-house counsels from the “Big Four" international consultancy firms.

The seminar covered several key dispute resolution issues of importance to businesses in Kazakhstan, including choosing the appropriate forum for litigation or arbitration proceedings, freezing injunctions in support of English and foreign proceedings, discovery in aid of foreign proceedings, and enforcement of judgments and awards.
