Associate, Employment – Ukraine

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Associate to join the Employment & Labour law team in our Kyiv office. This is an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with skilled professionals and provide top-quality advice and consultation to our premium clients.

Our experienced labour law specialists advise a broad spectrum of clients on managing the employment law aspects of their businesses to keep pace with social, economic and regulatory changes. We deliver practical assessments and advice to help companies manage labour law risks in their day-to-day operations, as well as in relation to complex restructuring and M&A transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive legal research and risk analysis:
    Perform in-depth legal research on employment and labour law matters, including local and international regulations, case law, and compliance requirements. Identify potential legal risks for clients and propose clear, actionable legal solutions aligned with their business needs.
  • Providing expert legal advice to clients:
    Deliver high-quality legal consultation on a wide range of employment-related issues, such as hiring, dismissal, restructuring, workplace policies, compensation schemes, internal investigations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents:
    Prepare, review, and refine legal documents including legal opinions, memoranda, internal company policies, HR documentation, and compliance-related materials tailored to specific client industries and jurisdictions.
  • Preparing contracts and legal instruments:
    Draft employment contracts, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, secondment documents, independent contractor agreements, and other legal instruments. Ensure that all documents are aligned with current legal standards and best practices.
  • Team collaboration and knowledge sharing:
    Work effectively within the legal team by sharing insights, supporting junior team members, and actively participating in internal knowledge development initiatives. Maintain clear and timely communication with senior lawyers and project managers regarding task progress and client updates.
  • Building and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships:
    Engage with clients, HR departments, and business stakeholders professionally to ensure strong working relationships. Provide ongoing legal support and anticipate client needs in dynamic environments.
  • Assisting with ad hoc legal tasks and administrative duties:
    Handle other legal assignments and contribute to cross-practice projects or internal firm initiatives as directed by management, including contributing to business development, legal publications, or training sessions.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Ukrainian degree in law from a reputable university;
  • Previous practical experience of 4+ years in employment practice, gained either at an international or major domestic law firm;
  • Strong academic background and work ethic;
  • Full professional proficiency in Ukrainian and English;
  • Excellent multitasking abilities and a track record of meeting strict deadlines;
  • Punctuality and attention to detail;;
  • Exceptional time-management, prioritization, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple legal matters within a demanding work environment;
  • Can-do attitude, high level of integrity, and intellectual curiosity;
  • Proactive and self-starter attitude;
  • Team player with a passion for excellence.
