Magdalena Lupoi is a Counsel in the Bucharest office, specialising in banking & finance, capital markets, corporate/mergers & acquisitions, leasing, and insurance and reinsurance. She has extensive experience advising both international and domestic commercial and investment banks and assisting in major financing transactions.

Magdalena served for 15 years as head of the legal and credit recovery department at a French and British bank operating in Romania and for 17 years as head of the local banking practice within a specialty German law firm with offices in Romania. Her exceptional expertise and professionalism combined with the outstanding commercial knowledge she acquired during her career enables her to identify the most suitable legal solutions to her clients‘ needs.

• A MAJOR GERMAN BANK on the increase of a credit facility and the granting of new facilities with a total value of more than EUR 680 million to, among others, a German group for the purpose of financing the acquisition of a major player on the Romanian wood processing market as well as the future business activity of the target company
• A REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST on a financing project for a European group owning and operating large thermal spa facilities with an estimated value of EUR 1 billion, with more than EUR 110 million allocated to the Romanian subsidiary
• AN E-MONEY UNDERTAKING on regulatory matters under Romanian and EU law with regard to the transfer of economic rights relating to a portfolio of loans and servicing of the collection of the portfolio’s proceeds
• A LARGE GERMAN INVESTMENT BANK on the restructuring of a EUR 168 million financing facility granted to 21 jointly and severally liable borrowers that are subsidiaries of an important European investment fund located in four CEE jurisdictions, including three Romanian companies
