February 2015 - Kristóf Ferenczi, partner and head of Kinstellar’s firm-wide Energy practice, gave a presentation at the CEE Power Conference organised by Platts in Prague on 17 and 18 February 2015.
Over 100 invited guests, including representatives of major energy companies and banks, as well as government officials, took part in the two-day event, which focused on such areas as: new trends in the European and CEE power sector; new legal and regulatory changes impacting the power sector; planned new major power generation projects in the region; grid infrastructure and market design developments; and the need to deliver a clean base-load in order to satisfy future demand.
In his presentation, Mr Ferenczi highlighted the changing European energy landscape from the legal perspective and explored several important issues, including: the 2030 climate and energy framework; EU law and current market realities; how to secure long-term government commitments to energy projects; capacity markets, competition and state aid legal issues; and long-term investment security.
