February 2011 - A special report published in The Lawyer highlights the growing interest among international law firms in the Turkish market. Increasingly, international law firms are being drawn to Turkey by the country’s strong growth potential.
Kinstellar launched its legal practice in Turkey in June 2010, becoming only the second international firm to open a new office in the country in recent years.
“To operate a law firm in Turkey, there are a number of regulatory hoops to jump through, but these are no more onerous than in a number of other countries where we operate,” explains Charles Dunn, Managing Partner of Kinstellar’s Istanbul office. “More fundamentally, we are confident that the future of the Turkish economy is bright, and having an office in Istanbul suits our strategy.”
In accordance with Turkish law, in Istanbul Kinstellar works closely with a group of Turkish lawyers who have established a new Turkish law firm called CCAO to advise on Turkish law. CCAO is led by Halide Cetinkaya who is both well known among, and highly respected by, the Turkish business community, international law firms and international businesses with interests in Turkey. With CCAO, Kinstellar provides focused, commercial legal advice to international clients investing in Turkey, and to Turkish clients investing in Emerging Europe and beyond.
