June 2016 - Kinstellar Kyiv had the honour to participate in the International Bar Association’s inaugural Europe-Caucasus-Asia Forum, which took place on 15-18 June in Kyiv and Lviv, Ukraine.
IBA ECA 2016, which evolved from the IBA’s previous CIS Local Counsel Forum, brought leading professionals and officials together with the wider IBA community to share insights on the development of the legal profession across the CIS region.
As a Member of the Local Host Committee, Iryna Nikolayevska, Counsel and Head of the Corporate/M&A practice at Kinstellar’s Kyiv office, moderated the Forum’s Corporate Counsel Panel. Having worked previously as an in-house counsel for more than six years, Iryna brought together in-house lawyers from leading companies and diverse industries across CIS to discuss various topical issues, including the challenges and opportunities currently facing corporate counsel, client service, and relations with outside counsel. As part of the discussion, the panellists also shared their insights on the decision-making process for hiring outside counsel, best practices they have observed in law firms, strategic decisions to manage costs, the ways law firms can best market their services, and more.
Other Forum panels focused on various topics of professional interest, such as new legal practices, women in the legal profession, and the best marketing and hiring practices. Additionally, IBA ECA 2016 offered a number of networking opportunities and events in two of Ukraine’s most attractive cities.
