February 2017 - Andriy Nikiforov, Counsel and head of the banking, finance & capital markets practice at Kinstellar’s Kyiv office, spoke at the third Legal Banking Forum in Kyiv — a major national platform for Ukrainian lawyers specialising in banking and finance.
The Forum, which took place on 21 February 2017, was a full-day event focusing on the latest changes in and prospects for Ukraine’s banking sector. Among attendees were senior officers of the National Bank of Ukraine and the Individual Deposits Guarantee Fund of Ukraine, the chief legal officers of Ukraine’s major commercial banks, and Ukraine’s leading private legal practitioners.
The Forum’s agenda featured panel discussions and presentations on a range of issues concerning the current condition of Ukraine’s banking sector including: non-performing loans and recovery matters; the challenges facing the Individual Deposits Guarantee Fund; the National Bank’s supervision of commercial banks; and capital controls and investments in the banking sector. As part of a panel discussion on capital controls, Kinstellar’s Andriy Nikiforov shared with the audience his expertise in advising on the recent changes to Ukrainian banking law and their impact on cross-border loan transactions.
