Kinstellar partners are keynote speakers at the European Gas Summit in Vienna

October 2013 - Kinstellar’s energy Partners Kristóf Ferenczi (Head of Energy) and Kamil Blazek (Head of Projects) were among the key note speakers at the European Gas Summit, organized by Platts in Vienna on 26 September. In their presentation, Messrs Ferenczi and Blazek gave an overview of the changing regulatory framework for the European natural gas market from a CEE lawyer's perspective.

The event provided a platform for the region’s leading gas companies, TSOs, regulatory bodies, industry associations, traders and analysts to meet, discuss and debate the future of an industry experiencing significant changes and facing major challenges. The topics of discussions addressed the stringent sector issues: With long term supply from Russia still seen as the backbone of the industry, what will changes and developments there mean for Europe and when are we likely to see this taking place? Will we continue to see weak demand? Are fundamentals tightening and what impact will increased supply from the East have for the region? Will Europe ever see a real internal market for gas?

Key addresses also spanned from the latest on the southern corridor, the legal issues surrounding the import of gas to Europe and the implications for the industry, outcomes from the ten year network development plan and network codes, LNG infrastructure and the challenge of attracting buyers and sessions on storage, shale gas, to gas supply infrastructure etc.

The audience included a range of key industry experts in the CEE and CIS regions, including representatives of leading energy and gas companies, banks, transaction advisors and government agencies.

Kinstellar’s Energy practice is expert at handling energy sector issues in multiple jurisdictions in Emerging Europe and Central Asia. The firm’s clients include major multinational, regional and domestic energy companies and national governments.
