Hartwig Kienast is a Partner in the Vienna office and a member of the Corporate/M&A service line.

Hartwig specialises in mergers & acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, corporate reorganisations and has recently been involved in large cross-border M&A transactions and restructurings.

He has also gained extensive experience in the infrastructure, energy, consumer goods, software and pharmaceutical sectors. He focuses on growth companies in the technology sector, advising start-ups as well as investors into start-ups.

RECENT ENGAGEMENTS INCLUDE ADVISING*

M&A AND CORPORATE

  • UBS on the sale of its minority share in Saubermacher with operations in Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and the Czech Republic
  • BRIGHTON PARK CAPITAL, a private equity investor, on the EUR 73.6 million Series C financing round of Linz-based Storyblok, provider of a modern content management system (CMS)
  • AMS-OSRAM, a multinational semiconductor and LED manufacturer based in Austria, on the implementation of the company’s comprehensive financing plan with a volume of approximately EUR 2.2 billion
  • PROSUS, COATUE and DST GLOBAL, as lead investors, in the Series B, Series C and Series D Financing rounds of Vienna-based e-learning start-up GoStudent (GoStudent achieved unicorn status with the Series C investment at a valuation of over EUR 1.4 billion.)
  • MERCK SHARP & DOHME CORPORATION on the acquisition of 100% of the shares in the Austrian biotech company Themis Bioscience through a subsidiary
