September 2015 - Kinstellar senior lawyer Mladen Minev spoke recently at a seminar organised by the Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers (BFIEC) regarding a proposed draft law, which if enacted would reduce the cost burden related to renewable energy. The draft law will soon be submitted to the European Commission for review.
The purpose of the seminar, which was well attended by industrial energy consumers (as potential beneficiaries of the proposed law) as well as major electricity traders and auditors, was to make all stakeholders familiar with the newly proposed state aid scheme. Keynote speakers included experts from the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy.
Kinstellar was invited to provide an independent legal perspective on the topic. Mladen Minev’s presentation, which was well received by the attendees, focused on the controversial new obligations for balance group coordinators included as part of the draft law.
