March 2016 - On 16 March, Kinstellar’s Sofia office held a seminar on price promotions and abuse of stronger bargaining position. The event, presented by Dessislava Fessenko, head of Kinstellar’s Sofia Competition practice, focused on the most frequently used types of promotions in Bulgaria, including “lowest price” and “main-plus supplementary product” promotions, which, although are they often used, are quite problematic and often considered to constitute an unfair trading practice.
The seminar concluded with a long and informative discussion among the participants and received excellent feedback. Attendees included senior managers and legal and compliance advisers of leading local and international companies operating in Bulgaria in various industries, including retail and FMCG, telecoms, pharma, real estate, and banking and financial institutions.
Dessislava Fessenko is a local competition expert with more than thirteen years of experience advising on anti-trust, EU and commercial law. She has advised a number of international companies on various aspects of their commercial behaviour and has served as advisor to the European Commission regarding the level of harmonisation of Bulgarian regulations on unfair trade practices with EU rules.
