Kinstellar business breakfast focuses on the data security requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation

March 2017 - Our Budapest office hosted a morning seminar on Tuesday, 28 March, to help clients better understand the key changes brought by the EU’s recently passed General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in relation to data security and the actions that companies in Hungary should take in this respect by May 2018.

The GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) aims to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation of data protection within the EU. It is the most significant overhaul of data privacy laws in Europe in the last 20 years and provides that all companies that employ EU residents should implement relevant business processes and technical solutions to protect their personal data.

Zsombor Orbán, Kinstellar Hungary’s data protection specialist, and guest speaker Dr Gergely Ács, Assistant Professor of CrySyS Lab at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, gave presentations regarding the data security issues covered under the GDPR and provided practical tips regarding performing an impact analysis of the new rules on business.

As this is a topic of particular interest, we plan to host another session within the coming weeks for those who were not able to join us  this time.
