December 2018 – For the second year in a row, Victor Constantinescu, Kinstellar partner and co-head of the firm’s wide Real Estate practice, was an invited speaker at SGB Securities’ annual real estate conference which took place in Cape Town, South Africa on 3 December 2018. SBG Securities is a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Bank, one of South Africa’s largest banking groups with a 156-year history in the region and solid knowledge required to operate successful businesses across the continent.
The conference brought together high-level real estate professionals and investment managers interested in the CEE region. In his presentation, Victor described the investment climate and risks in the CEE region, primarily Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Serbia, offering a legal perspective on investor’s perceptions about the political and economic environment of the region.
In his view, there is no noticeable slowdown and the CEE market is still buoyant, but the noise generated by the political tensions needs to be watched. At this time, business community believes that actors such as civil society or the European Union and others will continue to put pressure on the business as a whole. Still, the region continues to show strong fundamentals, with no significant risks or barriers for foreign investors.
